Sahiwal (Punjabi, Urdu: ساہیوال) is a growing city in the southeastern province of Punjab province of Pakistan and the administrative centre of Sahiwal District. Sahiwal has become a division headquarters in 2008. The districts of Okara and Pakpattan are under Sahiwal division. This city was a small village on the Karachi-Lahore railway line in 1865 when it was renamed Montgomery after Sir Robert Montgomery, then Lieutenant-Governor of Punjab.[1] It took its current name in 1966. Sahiwal lies approximately 180 km from the major city of Lahore. And it is the biggest city between Lahore and Multan. The population is 207,388 (1998 Pakistan Census). Sahiwal District is included in the former Multan Division and lies between 30-39 north latitude and 73-06 longitude. The people of Sahiwal are known as Sahiwalians.

Rahim Yar Khan is the capital city of Rahimyar Khan District as well as the tehsil of the same name. The Area of Rahim yar Khan City is About 22 square kilometres. In 1883 Nawab Sadiq Khan-IV of Bahawalpur renamed it after his son Rahim Yar Khan. Formerly Rahimyar Khan was also one of the names of the three districts of the former princely State of Bahawalpur until 1955. Today, Rahimyar Khan lies on an important train route which runs south to Sukkur and north to Bahawalpur. According to the 1998 census, the city population was 233,537 with an annual growth rate of 4.04%. As of January 2007, it is around 330,000.
